Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited

KRIDL stands for Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited (KRIDL). It is a Government of Karnataka undertaking which is involved in the Civil Engineering construction and focuses on creating assets for Karnataka. This organization is headquartered in Bengaluru but has zones, divisions and sub-divisions functioning all over Karnataka. Activities such as construction of hostels in the department of higher education, Polytechnics, Stadiums in Youth service departments, Collegiate education, Social Welfare Departments, etc are carried throughout Karnataka by KRIDL.

The organization is specific about the quality of work it delivers and also emphasizes on its timely completion. To keep a check on their work, KRIDL has published a Quality Control Hand Book which is three tiered. The first tier is envisaged as in-house quality control system
which ensures the implementation of quality standards by way of carrying out mandatory tests. The second tier is independent quality check and monitoring mechanism by KRIDL while the third has an objective of monitoring the quality of works executed by the KRIDL with a view to ensure that the works under the programme conform to standards.

 

History

KRIDL was started as a Directorate of Land Army Corporation in the year 1971 under the Rural Development Department of Government of Karnataka. Later, the Government of Karnataka took its full ownership and it became Karnataka Land Army Corporation. It was named as Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited(KRIDL) on 6th August 2008.

Aims of KRIDL

KRIDL aims to be the best and the most efficient public sector company in Karnataka. It believes in striving for overall superior services and becoming leader in construction management.

Objectives-

The objective of KRIDL is to work for the development and improve the economic conditions of laborers by concentrating labor intensive works which provide them employment opportunities and undertake all   rural development construction  works directly by eliminating middlemen, preventing the exploitation of rural workers

Workforce and projects-

KRIDL has a workforce of around 932 people which includes over over 341 highly dedicated and qualified Civil Engineers. It has various projects of building infrastructure for Rural Development Programmes, Rural Communication, Bridges, Buildings like Schools, Hospitals, Hostels, Houses, Consumer Forum, Youth Services, Navodaya Vidhyalaya Sangatan (NVS), Kendriya Vidhyalaya Sangatan (KVS) etc. all over Karnataka.
