Priyakrishna is the richest candidate in the upcoming Karnataka elections. One of the youngest on the bloc, the wealthy Businessman turned politician has astronomical amount of money. Priyakrishna is a sitting MLA for the incumbent Congress party since 2013, when he became the youngest MLA after the verdict of electorates. The young Congressman has a wealth of over thousand crore, declared in the filed affidavit to the Election Commission for the upcoming state legislative elections. He is not alone, there are several such high-profile candidates participating in the upcoming elections with a net worth of crores of rupees. Despite, the increasing influence of rich politicians across the nation, still, there are candidates without any significant wealth. These “poor” candidates stand little chance when it comes election campaigning, as they do not have enough resources to compete against these high-class politicians. The Indian electoral system has time and again spurt surprises.
Following is the list of top 10 poorest candidates who are set to battle out against some of the richest candidates in the upcoming Karnataka Elections:
S. No. | Name | Constituency | Party | Education | Wealth |

10 | Syed Afzal Hussain | K.R. PURA | IND | 5th Pass | Nil |
The stark contrast of wealth among the candidates contesting the Karnataka Assembly elections is staggering, with top 10 richest candidates have a combined wealth of over 5000 crore, the top 10 poorest candidates contesting have no wealth at all. Unsurprisingly enough, except for Basavaraj Mallayya and H.M. Ismail from the Indian New Congress Party and Kalyankari Jantantrik Party, respectively, the rest of the candidates do not have any affiliation to the political parties in the state and are contesting the elections independently. Both the richest and the poorest candidates go face to face on May 12, while the results of the clash will be out on the May 15.
