Karnataka elections is something that is being followed in every part of the country with much enthusiasm and fervour. People are eagerly looking forward to the May 12th elections for Karnataka Legislative Assembly, as it is being touted as the biggest political battleground of the year. The three-way battle between Congress, BJP, and JD(S) is surely up for a tough competition between the parties to win with a clear majority, as some of the pre-poll pollsters predict a fractured mandate for a hung assembly. Some consider JD(S) as the dark horses in the upcoming elections. The party tasted success when JD(S) patriarch H D Deve Gowda’s son H D Kumaraswamy became the Chief Minister for 20 months in a coalition with BJP. However, since then, the party hasn’t impacted the results of the last two legislative assembly elections. Karnataka has some of the richest politicians of the country. Elections after elections the influence of these high-profile politicians is increasing. Even in the upcoming elections, there are several affluent candidates contesting the elections in the state. Congress and BJP are neck and neck in terms of ‘Crorepati Candidates’ with 204 and 205, respectively, while JD(S) comes third with 146 ‘Crorepati Candidates’.
